Third Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Rukia Isanga Nakadama has taken  a significant step in fostering the implementation of key government programs in Mayuge District.

During her visit to Kavule Parish on Saturday, January 4, 2024 she emphasized for the local community’s active participation in initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Wealth Creation, and Emyooga; programs designed to uplift Ugandans from poverty and improve their livelihoods.

The Minister’s visit marked an important gesture for the community of Kavule, as she engaged directly with locals to discuss the challenges they face and how government programs can address those concerns.

Minister Nakadama encouraged the people of Mayuge to fully embrace these government programs, stressing that active involvement is the most effective means of combatting poverty in the district.

She reminded the residents that the only way to truly make progress was to set aside political differences and work together towards common goals urging the community to focus on the potential benefits of the government programs rather than on political division.

“Politics cannot lift anyone out of poverty,” she said.

Her message echoed the importance of community-driven development, particularly through the Parish Development Model (PDM), which aims to transform rural areas by providing access to financial resources and training for small-scale entrepreneurs.

Minister Nakadama emphasized the importance of the ‘Four Acre Model,’ an initiative promoted by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The model focuses on modernizing farming techniques, improving productivity, and helping farmers gain economic independence.

Nakadama mentioned that it was the President’s responsibility to teach Ugandans how to effectively tackle poverty through sustainable and modern agricultural practices.

“President Museveni is not wasting his time; he is showing us how to combat poverty effectively,” she said.

She encouraged the community to embrace these teachings and use them to transform their livelihoods.

Minister Nakadama’s visit was not limited to Kavule parish, over the course of her tour, she will be visiting three parishes in Mayuge District including Kavule, Buwaya, and Malongo to engage with the local communities and monitor the progress of government initiatives in these areas.

The minister’s visit to Mayuge serves as a timely reminder of the power of collective action in achieving national development goals. By setting aside differences and coming together to support government programs, the people of Uganda have the opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves and their children.

The government’s commitment to alleviating poverty through the PDM, Wealth Creation, and Emyooga initiatives is clear, however  it is the responsibility of the people to actively engage and make these programs a success.

In her concluding remarks, Nakadama left the people of Mayuge with a message of hope and empowerment: Together, we can break the chains of poverty. Together, we can build a prosperous Uganda for all.
