Residents of Mbale City have decried the increasing sewage leakages and blockages around the banks of the River Nabuyonga.
The residents note that the sewage lines connecting Ahmadiyya Hospital leak directly into the stream whenever the main sewage system at Nabuyonya Bridge is blocked.
Liz Bakarunga, the Mbale City Industrial Division Health Inspector for the industrial area, said they have notified the National Water and Sewerage Corporation to fix the leakages.
“Residents may avoid using the water for cooking but use it for washing,” said Bakarunga.
Attempts to engage NWSC proved futile by the time we went to press.
