The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has unveiled a FUFA Technical Masterplan, a seven-year initiative aimed at enhancing various aspects of football in the country.

In a statement dated January 2, 2025, FUFA outlined that the program will focus on four main areas: mass football, elite football, professional football, and life after football.

FUFA President Moses Magogo Hassim, during the New Year’s Address on Football Matters on January 2, 2025, emphasized the significance of the development of a football curriculum that will be implemented in regional football centers of excellence.

This initiative, Magogo said, is expected to contribute to the establishment of a national football philosophy.

Additionally, FUFA has set up a talent-identification network with trained scouts who utilize an online platform to report on emerging young talent.

However, Magogo acknowledged the longstanding challenges related to sports infrastructure in Uganda but highlighted the government’s commitment to improving facilities to support sports development.

“Mandela National Stadium was reopened last year, with plans for its second phase of renovations to commence soon,” he said.

He expressed confidence that Hoima Stadium would be completed by December this year.

Furthermore, Magogo mentioned that work has begun at Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium and improvements are underway at the Kyambogo University Training Facility.

With the upcoming CHAN tournament, significant preparations are also being made at Wankulukuku, Kampala International School Uganda (KISU), and Kadiba Training Facilities.

The government has allocated funds for various projects, including the MTN-Omondi Stadium and Masaka Recreation Ground, with additional funding earmarked for Kakyeka Stadium.

As FUFA embarks on this journey, the expectation is set for measurable progress and success in transforming Uganda into a competitive force in football on both regional and global stages.
