Francis Mwijukye, Member of Parliament (MP) for Buhweju County, has said that the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Najjanakumbi faction is a weapon against change, saying that the occurrences at the premises are an attack on the struggle launched 20 years ago with the aim of causing change in the country.

According to Mwijukye, the FDC was formed to bring about democratic change in the country and not play around like Najjanankumbi is doing.

He made these remarks on February 21, 2024, while discussing the scramble and petition of FDC, its lost glory, and whether it could be reparable.

“What is happening at Najjanakumbi is an attack on the struggle; Najjanakumbi is now a weapon against change, because when you see its traits at that faction, they are of dictators,” Mwijukye said.

Mwijukye stated that his struggle is not about being an MP but about bringing change in the country, which has two types of parties: the oppressor and the oppressed. He added that one needs to differentiate whether they are speaking as the oppressed or oppressor to demand change.

He further added that FDC is the spirit of change, and Besigye is not just the founder but the foundation, which is why he did not campaign for Amuriat, who dipped his hand in the pot of dirty money from Museveni.

However, Jonathan Ebwalu, Member of Parliament, Soroti City West, said that they only have one FDC led by Amuriat Patrick Oboi, the only legitimate president, and Nandala Nathan Mafabi, the only Secretary General, with offices at Najjanakumbi.

“We don’t have two FDC’s; we have only one, and if you don’t have the FDC seal, you will not stand as an MP. Our motto is one Uganda, one people, and that’s what I stand for,” Ebwalu said.

The Forum for Democratic Change developed misunderstandings and was divided into two factions, in August 2023, that is to say, Najjanakumbi, led by Patrick Amurait, and Katonga, led by Erias Lukwago.
