Eight people have reportedly been severely injured in a nasty motor accident that occurred at the Bukinda village trading center in Bukinda sub-county, Rukinga district.
Preliminary information indicates that the awful accident occurred on Sunday, July 28, 2024, after a vehicle, registration number UBP 671D, driven by Promise Akakisimira, lost control, hit a hump, and rolled over.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the driver was unable to brake, leading to the vehicle’s collision with the hump and subsequent overturn.
The onlookers added that the injured individuals have been rushed to Bukinda Health Centre III for immediate medical attention, adding the driver is currently in a very critical condition following the accident.
At the time of reporting, the Uganda Police and local authorities had already arrived at the scene, managing the situation and providing necessary aid to the victims as investigations kicked off.
The Uganda Police Traffic and Road Safety Directorate report indicates that from July 7–13, 2024, 81 people died and 301 sustained injuries in road accidents resulting from careless overtaking and overspeeding.
