The opposition Democratic Party (DP) has called upon Uganda police to provide security to all political parties who comply with the regulations to go ahead and organize their mobilization tours.

While addressing the press conference at the DP Headquarters in Kampala, Ismail Kiirya, the Youth President asked the police to provide security to political parties who comply with the police regulations.

“We are in a season where political parties are organizing internally through branch inspection, structures, among others. So am calling upon the police to play their role of providing security and be so much submissive with all political parties,” Kiirya said.

He added that, police’s role is to provide security but not to interfere in the political activities of any political party.

He noted that, the same police that provides security on concerts, birthdays should also be given to all the political parties.

This comes after the police banned the national wide mobilization tour for the National Unity Platform that resulted into utterances of sectarianism and disobeying police guidelines.
