The top leadership of the Democratic Front (DF) has officially endorsed former Rubaga North Member of Parliament, Hon. Moses Kasibante, as the party’s flag bearer for the Lubaga Division mayoral seat in the upcoming general elections.

Kasibante, who represented Rubaga North for two terms, was officially nominated on September 2, 2025, at the party headquarters in Namirembe, Lubaga Division, by the DF Electoral Commission, headed by Mr. Henry Lubowa.

Arriving in cheerful spirits, Kasibante was accompanied by top DF figures, including the Party’s National Chairman, Mr. Lubega Mukaaku; Secretary General, Michael Sseninde Mabike; and Party Whip in Parliament and Entebbe Municipality MP, Michael Kakembo Mbwatekamwa, among others.

Speaking to the media after his nomination, Mr. Kasibante stated that Lubaga Division has long been politically neglected, adding that the current local leaders urgently require political change due to poor leadership.

“I have worked in Lubaga for many years. I understand the people’s problems, and I have solutions to the challenges they face,” Kasibante said.

He highlighted several pressing issues facing Lubaga residents, including high taxes, unfair property rates, poor road networks, and inadequate sanitation caused by a deficient drainage system. He criticized the current local leadership for failing to address these challenges, citing incompetence.

Michael Kakembo Mbwatekamwa, the Party Whip in Parliament, commended DF’s leadership for endorsing Kasibante, describing him as a formidable and well-groomed leader.

Kakembo emphasized that the Democratic Front strongly believes Hon. Kasibante is the right person to liberate Lubaga and provide transformative leadership.

Kasibante is set to face competition from NUP’s incumbent mayor, Zackey Mberaze Mawula, as well as other potential independent candidates expected to be nominated by the Electoral Commission.
