“Once completed, the project is expected to significantly reduce power outages and unplanned power failures on both the Nkenda–Ishaka and Nkenda–Kasese 33kV feeders. The upgraded network will also enable the efficient evacuation of electricity generated by hydropower plants within the Rwenzori region,” Okochi said.

The President assured investors that Uganda has adequate raw materials to sustain the factory, noting that the challenge lies in organising farmers and connecting them to dependable markets rather than increasing production.

Kagamba Senior Secondary School in Kitondo parish, Ihunga sub-county, was the first beneficiary, receiving 10 laptops in a ceremony witnessed by staff and the entire school community. Bwongyera Girls School in Nyamunuka Town Council received an equal number, ensuring that both institutions can now meaningfully participate in ICT-driven learning.

“The five-year plan is aligned with Uganda’s Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV), the Digital Transformation Programme, and Vision 2040. It sets priorities for expanding ICT infrastructure, digitizing government services, strengthening cybersecurity, enhancing data protection and privacy, and promoting innovation across both the public and private sectors,” Katuuku said.

“Mr. Mwenda, thank you for declaring me senile and incapable of judging right. You will, however, discover that at 82, I am still able to defend Uganda and myself with the Bible, the AK-47 and the pen,” Museveni said.

President Museveni reaffirmed the government’s stance on value addition, stressing that Uganda remains focused on ending the export of unprocessed minerals in order to create jobs, spur industrial growth, and increase domestic revenue generation.

“Our interest remains security, revenue assurance, and ensuring proper accountability within the telecommunications sector so that we clearly know what is happening with telecom companies and who the customers are,” the president said.
