Ateker Museum Set to Unveil the 2024 Cultural Night

The Ateker museum is not only home of cultural nights but also museum tours, oral and intangible heritage, cultural classes for students, cultural photoshoots, cultural shops, and research at a pocket-friendly cost.

In a bid to preserve the Ateker culture by way of collecting, conserving, and exhibiting the tangible and intangible heritage of the Ateker people, the Ateker Museum is set to host the cultural night on October 9, 2024.

The dazzling cultural affair to be hosted in the Ateker Museum compound in Soroti city will be encompassed by music, dance, and storytelling.

According to James Oluka, the Director of Ateker Museum, stories will be told by the elders who conduct asapan—the Ateker cultural initiation ceremony from childhood to adulthood—and cultural food will be showcased.

He emphasized that Ajon-the-Ateker local brew will be a delicacy beer of the cultural night, while describing the event as a blessing to the eye that soothes the soul.

Strategy located on Plot 4, Komolo Road of the famous Senior Quarters in the beautiful Soroti city, the museum prides itself on the use and preservation of indigenous knowledge and solutions and demonstrates their importance in promoting social cohesion as well as in responding to contemporary society problems.

It further seeks to increase access to academic learning/study sites for students in North and Northeastern Uganda who usually travel over 200 km to access study sites.
