Anti-Corruption Court Arraigns Two over Fraudulent Acquisition of Government Land

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working with Uganda Police have arraigned the former Deputy Town Clerk of Jinja Municipal Council over fraudulent attainment of Government Land.

Jofram Waidhuuba was charged with abuse of office, fraudulent procurement of certificate of title and conspiracy to defraud at Anti-Corruption Division in Kampala on October 27, 2023.

According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, in 2018, the accused, while employed by Jinja Municipal Council as Deputy Town Clerk, irregularly signed transfer forms to enable a private company, God Will Agencies Ltd procure a Certificate of Title on government land.

“Tusiime Isaac, who was the company owner was jointly charged with Waidhuuba but unfortunately, remains at large,” Anti-Corruption Unit stated.

This incident follows the arrest of Eric Geoffrey Mkwe, commonly known as Okello who was arraigned before the KCCA Chief Magistrate’s Court for conspiring to defraud USD 600,000 (UGX 2.2B) from a Korean investor in a fake gold scam, among others.

Mkwe, together with the earlier charged persons were further remanded until November 6, 2023.
