The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have injured top commander of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), known as Kamusi, while two of his close bodyguards were put out of action in Kibale Forest.

According to Col. Deo Akiiki, the Deputy UPDF Spokesperson, on December 5, 2023, Kamusi and his group attacked an elderly lady, Betty Biira, in Kanyatete village, Kasese District, and hacked her to death, injuring her attendant, a 14-year-old boy named  Harrison Masereka.

“Upon receiving information about the unfortunate incident, the UPDF, through technical intelligence and in collaboration with the deceased’s relatives, managed to track Kamusi and his group in Kibale Forest,” Col. Akiiki said.

He said two of his close bodyguards were killed and two SMG rifles were recovered: number NY3231 and number 2900339, for a total of 37 rounds of ammunition. He added that this was the surviving group of Njovu (who was arrested earlier in November), which was attempting to cross into Kibale to establish bases.

“We applaud the vigilance of the population for sharing with us timely information and cooperating with security forces to ensure that our hard-earned peace is not disturbed by the terrorists,” he added.

Col. Akiiki urged the population to continue being alert and report to the police or any nearest security post any suspicious persons or unattended items in the area.

Kamusi has been leading the terror group following the arrest of their leader, Njovu, earlier in November 2023.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni recently assured Ugandans of their safety and maintained that security is on top of their game against the cowardice displayed by terror groups attempting to attack Uganda.
