Joe Biden, the President of the United States of America (USA) is set to travel to Israel to demonstrate his steadfast support and consult on next steps following the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
Biden took to Twitter and confirmed his travel to Israel, set for October 18, 2023, to show his support for the country.
“On Wednesday, I will travel to Israel to stand in solidarity with the people of Israel in the face of Hamas’s brutal terrorist attack,” Biden said.
According to Biden, he will then travel to Amman, Jordan, where he will meet with his Majesty King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
“I will then travel to Jordan to address dire humanitarian needs, meet with leaders, and make clear that Hamas does not stand for Palestinians’ right to self-determination and discuss the humanitarian needs of civilians in Gaza,” he added.
As of October 17, 2023, the death toll is 4200, and Israel has lost 1,400 people and 2,800 Palestinians. Thousands of people have been displaced and hundreds of properties destroyed.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel, and in a retaliation move, Israel tightened the Hamas-ruled Gaza, including restricting the entry of fuel and food and bombarding the area with air raids.
