The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an urgent travel and safety advisory for all Ugandan citizens currently in Israel, following the outbreak of hostilities between the Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran on June 13, 2025
In a statement released on Sunday June 22 2025, the Ministry warned that flights out of Amman, Jordan are currently in high demand and often fully booked.
According to them, all nationals must take immediate steps to ensure their safety and make necessary travel arrangements in advance.
“You must book your Ethiopian Airlines ticket in advance, before crossing into Jordan,” the statement read.
The Ministry pointed to potential evacuation flights being arranged by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism to assist foreign nationals.
However, it clarified that the start date, number of flights, and destinations for these evacuations have not yet been confirmed.
“Seats are limited, and participation is not guaranteed,” they said.
All Ugandans in Israel have also been reminded to strictly follow the emergency guidelines issued by the Israeli Home Front Command.
“Regardless of travel plans, all Ugandan citizens in Israel must fully comply with Israeli emergency regulations,” the Ministry emphasized.
Citizens are required to download the official Home Front Command App to receive real-time alerts and to seek shelter immediately in case of a siren.
The advisory discouraged unnecessary movement, especially in high-risk areas such as Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Givatayim, Haifa, and Be’er Sheva.
For any urgent assistance, Ugandans have been advised to contact Mr. Yaron Tamir, the Honorary Consul of Uganda in Israel, via email at yaron.tamir@hcuganda.com.
