9-Year-Old Pupil Murdered in Rukungiri

Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances surrounding the murder of a 9-year-old pupil in middle class at Nyabushenya lower primary school and a resident of Nyakahanga village, Nyabushenyi parish, Nyarrushanje Sub-County in Rukungiri district.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, the deceased was identified as Daniel Tuzarirwe.

ASP Maate said that the police at Ruabo police station was alerted by Consilanta Korugyendo 50 years old.

He said that the two of the deceased’s younger brothers identified as Deusdedit Kamugisha and Todius Nsiime are alleged to have gone to school with the deceased on June 12, 2023.

“Later in the evening at around 1700hrs, while coming back from school at Kashanda village, the deceased told the two younger brothers to move as he was to follow them, which they did,” ASP Maate said.

ASP Maate said that the two brothers reached home and they waited for the deceased but all in vain.

He further said that after searching the whole night the grandparents were unable to find him until the morning of June 13, 2023, when Ndyahika Kashemerwa an area councilor informed the family members that he found unknown body in his banana plantation.

The scene of crime was examined and documented, and the body was taken to Rwakabengo health Centre III mortuary for postmortem.
