The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has imposed surcharges for late Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) Continuous Assessment (CA) scores.

Following a deadline of September 30, 2024, a grace period has been granted until October 15, 2024, and the submission of CA scores will attract UGX 50,000 per candidate.

The UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Jennifer N. Kalule Musamba, revealed this during a press briefing on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Uganda Media Centre (UMC), Kampala.

“For UACE (S.6) candidates, following the deadline of 30th September, a grace period has been granted until October 15, 2024. The submission of CA scores for subjects where it is a requirement for UACE attracts a surcharge of UGX 50,000 per candidate during this grace period,” she stated.

Kalule also said that UNEB has extended the deadlines for the submission of the Continuous Assessment (CA) scores for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

“Senior Four (UCE) candidates of the New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC), the new deadline is October 30, 2024; Senior Three learners, the new deadline is November 15, 2024,” she said.

She noted that coursework scores and work projects for the NLSC candidates should be submitted for all subjects offered, and failure to do so, the candidates will not be graded, and UCE Transitional candidates are not required to submit course scores.

She advised head teachers of the affected UACE schools or centers to write a letter to the Executive Director explaining why the submission was late and stating that the letter, along with the CD of the scores, should be submitted to the CA offices in Kyambogo, where an invoice will be generated.

On September 30, 2024, UNEB released the timetable for the 2024 examinations, and for the first time, UNEB will be examining the candidates of the New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC) for the award of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).
