The Archbishop Most Rev. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu has called upon pilgrims to strengthen their faith and desist from homosexuality.

Archbishop Mugalu was giving his sermon to pilgrims and addressing the press at Uganda Anglican Martyrs Shrine, Namugongo on Thursday, June 1, 2023.

The Archbishop urged pilgrims to keep their faith in God and love one another as husbands and wives (man and woman) in order to fight homosexuality that has become common in society, especially in the western world.

He also encouraged parents to love, counsel and protect their children against homosexuality since the vice is mostly targeting the youth and young.

“I call upon each one of you to keep your faith and stand strong to fight homosexuality,” Archbishop Mugalu said.

The Most Revered has urged all Ugandans to work hard in order to support themselves and avoid begging for aid.

“I appeal to every Ugandan to work hard and leave homosexuality money,” he noted.

He thanked President Museveni, Vice President Jesica Alupo and the ministers for contributing towards the construction of the pulpit.

“I want to thank His Excellency the President for blessing us with resources and many other well-wishers, for contributing towards the construction of this pulpit and the place where the 45 Martyrs were buried. I also received a contribution of 100million shillings from the Vice President Her Excellency Jesca Alupo,” Archbishop said.

He appreciated the development of the place, adding that it is going to be the first time to see people sit comfortably without being troubled by the sun.

“I appreciate the development of this place. I am a student of this place but what I’ve found now, I say thus far the Lord has brought us. You can see where really God is getting us from. From shame to fame, I am so grateful. What happened here long time ago was a mess for the young men here, but it has become a message to other people. What was a taste, has become a testimony for other people, that God takes care of his people,” His Grace added.

Archbishop Muagalu asked pilgrims to celebrate the life of Martyrs who died for their faith. He therefore asked pilgrims to keep the faith and not be like the west who have got lost in homosexuality.

He appealed to all Ugandans to keep the faith and not compromise or be threatened by anything, especially after the President assented his signature to this Law.

“I appeal to all Ugandans to keep the faith and not compromise. Don’t be threatened by anything especially now after the President assenting his signature to this Law. To protect our children, to protect the biblical values, to protect our values and to protect the values of Uganda. They have now added on another gender called the minority attracted which affects our children. The children should be kept out as well,” he said.

The theme of the Uganda Martyrs day celebrations is “United For Sustainable Service And Growth.” The name Namugongo originated from the Martyrs that were being pulled on their backs before being killed. Anglican Martyrs were 23 while the Catholics were 24 in number.
