The second batch of youths under the Presidential industrial hubs have appreciated the government for the initiatives taken to economically transform Uganda.

This was during their assessment of over 4,600 youth by the Directorate of Industrial Training after undergoing six months skills training in different vocational occupations.

One of the beneficiaries thanked President Museveni and the government for creating a platform for her to learn a variety of skills which are going to come in handy her entire life.

“When I complete this course, i am planning to start up my own business and also educate more people to acquire the same skills,” she said.

According to the Director Presidential Hubs and Projects Engineer, Raymond Kamugisha, the youth have been trained in tailoring, welding, carpentry, hairdressing, bricklaying, and bakery.

Kamugisha further explained that this initiative is aimed at addressing social economic development through job creation.

“The vision to reduce unemployment among the youth in the countryside is a reality and the purpose of industrial hubs to address the needs of society,” Kamugisha said.

“The country needs hairdressers, painters, welders, carpenters and that’s what we are addressing,” he added.

Kamugisha encouraged youth to join the presidential initiative noting that it is for everyone regardless of the region because they teach in both English and other local languages.

According to Scovia Apolot, a Verifier at Directorate of Industrial Training, a level one certificate is equivalent to a Senior Four student’s certificate, and if they upgrade to Level 3, they can join University.

Presidential industrial hub initiative is supported by State House and all youth are free to join.
