Witch Doctor, Two Others Arrested for Alleged Murder in Mpigi District

Police in Mpigi have arrested three people for allegedly killing a man and secretly burying his body in a sweet potato garden.

The deceased has been identified as Patrick Jjunju, a resident of Rakai district who was killed in Nawona village in Mpigi district.

The suspects who committed this heinous act were arrested on April 11, 2024, and have been identified as Asharf Sekanjako, aged 35, alias Sewa, a witch doctor at Nawona village in Mpigi district, Joseph Amanyire, and Roseline Lumu, who were arrested for helping Sekanjako kill Jjunju.

It is alleged that on March 10, 2024, Jjunju went to Sekanjako’s shrine in Nawona village to be treated, but later had a misunderstanding with him. He was beaten to death, and his body was taken to a sweet potato garden and secretly buried in a shallow pit in Lufuka village.

According to Deogratius Kalungi, LC I of Lufuka village, the residents of the village found Jjunju’s decomposing body when stray dogs dug up his body and started eating some of his rotten body parts.

He added that when Jjunju’s body was found, police were called, and they took his remaining body parts for further investigations.
