The Uganda Police Force has placed Shs50 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of a key suspect in the brutal murder of an elderly couple in Entebbe earlier this month.

David Mutaaga, 69, and his wife Deborah Florence Mutaaga, 62, were found dead with multiple stab wounds at their residence in Lugonjo–Nakiwogo Cell, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District. The gruesome killings occurred on the night of Sunday, July 6, 2025.

Addressing the press at Police Headquarters in Naguru on Monday, July 21, Police spokesperson SCP Kituuma Rusoke said the couple had earlier hosted a small gathering before the attack.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple had only recently returned from Europe, where they had lived for an extended period. By around 10:00 p.m., an unknown assailant scaled the perimeter wall and fatally attacked the couple. One body was found inside the house and the other in the compound.

Police retrieved CCTV footage showing the assailants gaining entry by jumping over the fence,” said Rusoke.

The police have also obtained an audio recording believed to feature the suspect’s voice. In the recording, the man is heard lamenting.

‘’Your children have studies, me I’m not studying. I am at home suffering…Mutaaga, come and help your husband. Your husband is here dying,”

A statement which investigators believe may point to a personal motive behind the attack.

“We are appealing to the public, if you recognize this voice, come forward. The person behind it is wanted in connection with the murders,” Rusoke emphasized.

He announced that the Uganda Police is offering a cash reward of Shs50 million to anyone who provides credible information that leads to the suspect’s arrest.

“The moment you lead us to the suspect or deliver him, the Shs50 million awaits you in cash. Everyone is called upon to join this hunt,” he added.

The public is encouraged to report any relevant information by calling the police emergency line: +256-769 675 918.

Rusoke assured that informants can share details discreetly and their identities will be protected.

He further noted that all security agencies are fully engaged in the investigation to ensure the suspect is brought to justice.
