Time check: 7:55 p.m., on Friday, September 8th at Kampala Serena Hotel when the MC of the day opened the show with several introductions and took the calm but anticipating crowd through singer Kirya’s music journey.
At this point, a large crowd had already gathered at the Kampala Serena Hotel to enjoy Kirya’s exciting, long-awaited event.
With series of perfo4mances before the actual lead performer could hit the stage, several musicians like Uganda’s Ibrahim SoulO, Aliddeki, and Kenneth Mugabe brought the crowd into a concert mood before Malawian pioneer Lawrence Khwisa, commonly known as Lulu, came on stage.
Without further ado, the soul singer soon took hold of the stage to deliver what he has done best since 2005, when he held the first edition of Kirya Live Concert at Steakout.
The singer, who has stretched the bar in terms of creative expressions and compositions, came on stage at about 9:45 p.m. amidst loud cheers from the crowd.
Kirya excited his fans with songs like Omulembe Gwa Kirya, The Road to Kirya, Boda Boda,Headmaster, Busaabala, Wooye, and Bbuba, among others.
“It is very good to come and support Maurice; you are very many,” said Lulu.
Several artists like Navio, Lydia Jasmine, Vamposs , A Pass, Cleopatra Koheirww, and others attended the concert to show their solidarity and were seen in the audience cheering Kirya.
