John Baptist Nambeshe, the opposition Chief Whip representing Manjiya County in Bududa district on the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket has said that, they believe in elections, and they will be back 2026 general elections.
Nambeshe, in a phone interview with our reporter on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, revealed that, they will be back in 2026, because they believe in elections which are fair and just, the reason they participated in 2021.
“As you can see, we are mounting pressure now, and the signs are positive as per the tour,” Nambeshe said.
He noted that, as Kyagulanyi is spreading a message of hope during his countrywide tours, and assuring voters that as NUP, they are set for victory, adding that, it’s the same he is re-echoing to the people of Mbale.
“Therefore he is here with a huge statement that, we are a force to reckon with. As you can see, last time, they stole our victory but this time round they won’t, and even if they thought of trying, the International Criminal Court is watching,” Nambeshe said.
He further stated that, those who did not believe in the elections did not participate, citing some of their colleagues headed by Dr. Kizza Besgiye.
The NUP Party President is on a countrywide tour campaign, where he started his tour last week and is currently in Mbale, after traversing through Mayuge and Busia
