Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has de-registered a total of 186,000 companies for failure to file returns.
This follows an earlier notice issued on March 20, 2023, requiring all companies to file their annual returns in accordant with Section 134(5) of the Companies Act 1 of 2012.
According to the registrar of companies, companies that failed to file annual returns for five years were required to file statement of solvency and show the cause why they should not be deregistered.
“Companies that fail to file annual returns for five (5) years were required to file a statement of solvency and show cause why they should not be struck off the register,” part of the notice read.
“We shall continue to review our records and identify other non- compliant companies for action.”
The list of de-registered private companies have been published on the URSB website.
The de-registered companies are unable to conduct any transactions within Uganda.
