URA Launches Initiative to Gather Taxpayer Feedback and Concerns

Commissioner General John Musinguzi of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has urged taxpayers to share their tax-related questions, service experiences with Taxman, and general thoughts on how the tax body can better serve the country.

Musinguzi revealed this when he and Don Wanyama, the Chief Executive Officer of Vision Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to begin a collaborative taxpayer education program dubbed “Buuza Komisona” on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Vision Group head office, Kampala.

According to URA, the initiative follows taxpayers’ requests for increased tax education especially targeting traders and other presumptive taxpayers.

“With this Buuza Komisona initiative taxpayers will be able to relay their queries and sentiments through our partners at Bukedde online through contacting 0701-625460/ 0777-629295,” Musinguzi said.

However, he stated that every Wednesday in the Bukedde paper the URA top leadership will respond to taxpayers’ concerns.

“On receiving your concerns, the URA top leadership will receive them and provide responses every Wednesday in the Bukedde paper,” he added.

Buuza Komisona will exclusively use facts rather than intermediaries or misinformation.

URA has been holding interactive workshops with several groups like the Somali Business Community at the Bya Allah Complex in Kisenyi, Mpondwe One Stop Border Post among others to educate them on various issues including customs policies, procedures, and customs-related challenges experienced by traders.
