The Uganda People’s Defense Forces have attacked and destroyed three critical bases of the ADF rebels inside the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during the recent airstrike.
According to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, an airstrike was conducted on October 4th by the Uganda Air Force, the Special Duties Regiment (SDR), and the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF).
“I need to inform you that on October 4, 2023, our fighter-bombers paid another visit to the terrorists, quite some distance inside Congo, in the Mambasa territory area. They attacked three targets, 180 km, 184 km, and 200 km, respectively, from the border on the Ntoroko side,” said the president.
The President commended the force for the tremendous work they are doing to safeguard both Ugandans and our Congolese brothers and sisters.
“I congratulate the Air Force, the Special Duties Regiment (SDR), and the UPDF in general on the good work they are doing to protect our Congolese brothers and sisters, as well as Ugandans, from the spoilt actors who are, moreover, ignorant of what war actually means,” added the president.
Gen. (Rtd) Museveni warned ADF rebels of more bombardment until they were duly neutralized by security.
“They have been inviting us to pay attention to them by killing Ugandans, and we are now responding to the invitation. The attacks are invariably precise, and we shall find out, after some time, who and how many terrorists died. It is futile and very dangerous to the individuals involved to think that they can kill Ugandans and be safe themselves,” noted the president.
He applauded the Congolese government for allowing Ugandan forces into the DRC to search for the ADF group.
This is the second airstrike being conducted by the UPDF in DRC within a period of one month.
Since the start of Operation Shujja by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces in 2021, over 550 ADF rebels have been killed.
