UPDF Officer, Three Others Held Over Illegal Timber Dealing

Police in Lugazi Town have in custody four suspects, including a UPDF officer, for allegedly engaging in illegal possession of forestry products.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police Spokesperson, has identified the suspects as WO1 Temteo Ntumwisho, a UPDF driver and a resident of Mbuya Military Barracks; Serunja Jordan, a 23-year-old  resident of Lugazi Kitenga; Serwada Steven, a 20-year-old  resident of Kayanja Mukono and Kyomugisha Robina, a 38-year-old  resident of Kinyoro zone in Lugazi Municipality.

Enanga confirmed that the suspects were arrested on July 31, 2023, while loading timber in Mabira forest into a UPDF truck registration number H4DF 334.

The truck has since been impounded and is currently parked at Lugazi CPS.

“We are going to ensure strict action is taken against the suspects,” Enanga added.

Environmental police have recently embarked on operations against environmental degradation across the country.
