UPDF Condemns Acts of Indiscipline in Army

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Deputy Spokesperson, Col Deo Akiiki has condemned the acts of indiscipline by the UPDF soldiers who killed by shooting his two colleagues.

Col Akiiki in the UPDF official twitter handle on Friday, July 14, 2023, stated that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces has received an incident report about a soldier identified as Corporal Avugo Lomuro of Mountain Division Signal Department, attached to the Air Force Evacuation Component who shot and killed two colleagues, and injured the others.

Col Akiiki said that the names of the deceased have been withheld as per UPDF policy of reporting to the family.

“We are not able to disclose the names before we inform the next of kin and family but the hunt for this soldier is on to make sure he faces his crime,” he tweeted.

Akiiki said that the hunt is on for the soldier who is on the run and he will definitely be brought to book to answer for his crimes.

However, Col Akiiki condoled with families of the deceased and wished their souls to rest in peace.

The two deceased soldiers were shot dead on the night of Thursday, July 13, 2023, from Muhoti Barrack in Kabarole district.
