The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has fronted Sarah Aguti Nyangkori as its flag bearer for the Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament by-elections.
The announcement was made during the party’s weekly press release on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Uganda House, UPC’s headquarters.
Sarah Aguti, who was the UPC flag bearer for the 2021 general elections, emerged as the flag bearer for the 2024 by-elections after Alyek Grace Anna and Josephine Acen Okello, who had shown interest in the same position by consensus, stepped down.
The party’s Head of Media and Communications, Faizo Muzeyi, thanked the two members for exercising a mature spirit in politics, when they agreed to step down in favor of their senior colleague.
“We want to extend our appreciation to those members because it shows a high degree of unity and focus in the party, and we call on all stakeholders to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections during campaigns and elections,” Muzeyi said.
During the unveiling, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori outlined the priority areas of the campaign and promised to work towards revamping the health, education, and agriculture sectors as the key areas reflecting the concerns of the people of Dokolo District and the entire country.
