The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party leader, Jimmy Akena Obote, is set to conduct a countrywide mobilization tour this February 2025.

This was announced by Sharon Arach, the UPC party spokesperson, at Uganda House during a media brief on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Arach said Akena, who is the Lira City East Division legislator, will begin the tour from Teso, Lango, and Acholi sub regions.

Arach also called upon all party members to participate in the ongoing internal exercise of registration of members as we prepare for the 2025/2026 general elections.

The UPC party has also called on the government to free the former leader of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change party, Dr. Kizza Besigye.

On Wednesday, Besigye and the co-accused appeared before the High Court Civil Division in an attempt to regain his freedom. The case is yet to be disposed by the court.
