The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has extended the period of normal registration to June 7, 2023, to allow more candidates who had not been able to meet the earlier deadline of May 31, 2023, to register.

“Heads of centers are hereby notified that it is possible to register additional candidates even after submission of the main list of candidates,” stated UNEB.

The Examinations body further revealed that parents as well as head teachers are urged to make use of the extension period and register all potential candidates to ensure that no learner is left out.

According to UNEB, 96% of the primary level, 91.2% of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and 86% of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) had registered by the initial normal deadline of the expected centers.

“This translates to a total of one million, one hundred and sixty-five thousand, one hundred and fifty-nine candidates (1,165,159) registered for all three levels above, and 20,656 centers are expected to register candidates this year,” reads the official statement from UNEB.

UNEB states that following the extension, schools will have until June 7 to register candidates without paying a surcharge. PLE candidates who register from June 8 to June 30 will be required to pay a surcharge of 100%; UCE and UACE candidates will pay a 50% surcharge.
