The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has strongly refuted circulating reports suggesting a delay in the release of the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results, allegedly caused by the nationwide internet shutdown on January 14, 2026.

The board described such claims as misleading, fake, and entirely baseless, aimed at sowing unnecessary panic among parents, candidates, and the public.

In a statement confirmed by Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026, UNEB described the circulating information as fake and baseless, intended solely to create unnecessary panic

“All necessary quality assurance procedures are being finalized, and the release date will be announced in due course,” Kulule said.

However, she also stated that UNEB has issued a strong warning to heads of centers against falling victim to impersonators posing as members of the board’s security committee.

“These fraudsters have been conning school leaders by promising to improve candidates’ grades or remove schools from lists of suspected examination malpractice cases in exchange for money,” she warned.

She further stressed that the board does not operate in this manner and condemns all forms of malpractice.

“We appeal to the public to report such cases to the police or inform UNEB through our Toll Free Lines: 0800111427 or 0800211077,” she noted.

Whistleblowers providing full information will be protected under UNEB’s whistle-blower policy.

As Uganda awaits the 2025 PLE results, the board called for calm and vigilance amid ongoing efforts to uphold examination integrity.
