The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has directed Heads of Centers to display the list of candidates registered for the 2024 examinations as provided for in the UNEB Act 2021, Section 4(2).

This development was confirmed in a statement released on Monday, August 12, 2024, by UNEB Executive Director Dan N. Odongo.

Odongo said that the candidates must be exhibited during this year’s mandated display period, which will run from August 12, 2024, to October 11, 2024, at the school notice board where they are registered. He noted that this will allow parents to verify the candidates’ registration status.

He urged the parents of students in schools without UNEB center status to establish where their children are registered and confirm that the learners have been properly registered.

“This is important to avoid unfortunate scenarios where students are discovered unregistered at the start of the examination period,” Odongo said.

Odongo further emphasized that parents should urgently notify UNEB for corrective action if their child is not properly enrolled despite having proof of payment for the registration fee.

He highlighted that, during the duration of the display, UNEB will offer an SMS option for mobile phones.

The ED, however, emphasized that it is the responsibility of candidates, heads of centers, and parents to critically analyze the register and confirm the actual accuracy of the candidate’s biodata.

Additionally, Odongo stated that any necessary amendments should be sent back to UNEB through the school before commencement of the examinations.

Odongo further declared that any necessary revisions should be submitted to UNEB by the time candidate classes start their exams.

“For PLE adjustments, the school should fill out an amendment form provided on the portal and submit it to UNEB. At UCE and UACE levels, schools are required to write an amendment request letter to UNEB and attach copies of the national identification card or birth certificate of the candidates whose details need to be amended,” Odongo said.

This year, UNEB has registered four examinations (4Es), which are the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE-New Curriculum), UCE-Transitional Examination (Old Curriculum), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). The examination will commence in October/November 2024.
