Mary Nuba was dominant in the circle scoring 29 goals while skipper Irene Eyaru who started at wing attack was perfect, making all her ten shots count when moved to goal attack in the second half. Shadiah Nassanga scored 10 goals in the historic win.

Uganda’s Maggie Baagala also dominated in the midcourt assisting on 21 goals with help from Sarah Nakiyunga who came on for Nassanga to send Eyaru into the circle to fetch victory.

Uganda’s victory over South Africa becomes second after the same thing happened last year at the 2022 Commonwealth games in Birmingham in the playoff for the 5th and 6th position where Uganda also walked away with victory over South Africa.
