The New England Revolution Football Club from the United States’ Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced the signing of 17-year-old, young, talented Ugandan central midfielder Allan Oyirwoth on a three-year permanent deal.
The contract officially takes effect on Oyirwoth’s 18th birthday later this month on January 23, 2025, and runs through the 2028 Major League Soccer season with an option to extend his contract with the club for one year up to summer 2029.
“Allan Oyirwoth is one of the top prospects out of Uganda and a very promising young midfielder. We are excited to get him into our high-potential training environment in New England and help him fulfill his potential,” Curt Onalfo, the club’s sporting director, said.
Oyirwoth excelled in Uganda with Amus College School and among other clubs in the country. He was named the Teso Zone MVP in March 2023 after leading the goal-scoring charts in the zonal school competition.
In May 2023, at the USSSA National Football Championship, a 64-school competition, he finished as the top scorer and earned himself MVP honors at the tournament.
His success followed him in July 2023, at the International Schools Football (ISF) Championships in Morocco, where he emerged as the top scorer of the tournament. One month later, he also led the Federation of East African Secondary Schools (FEASSSA) competition as the top scorer.
Due to his impressive 2023 form, Oyirwoth attracted interest from the Buganda Masaza Cup tournament, where he participated with Club Gomba and also earned himself an MVP award of the tournament.
Shortly after his 17th birthday in February 2024, Oyirwoth’s performances earned him a move to Leicester City, England, for a six-month stay at the Brooke House College and Academy, an esteemed development program with links to several English Premier League clubs.
Oyirwoth, who was born on January 23, 2007, in Amor Pakwach, West Nile, has also represented both the Uganda Cranes and junior national team U-20 on several occasions. His debut for the Cranes came on November 21, 2023, in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Somalia, thereby registering his first assist for the national team.
He also featured in a friendly match against Kuwait on January 19, 2024, as well as representing Uganda U-20 Men’s National Team at the 13th African Games in 2023. At the tournament, he scored against Senegal and also featured in a 2-1 win over Nigeria.
