Ugandans are warming up for the first ever Yake Yake festival, dubbed A Night with the Stars, which is set to take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Millennium Park in Lugogo, Kampala, starting at 12:00 a.m. until late.

In a phone interview with the event organizer, Marc Jacob Edube, he said that the festival is the first of its kind in Uganda, with musicians performing alongside a live band, and he promised a surprise international guest artist to spice up the day.

“It is the first edition to happen in Uganda, but it has been happening in other countries like Poland, in a different way, in the swing genre. Most Ugandans have only seen it in movies. It is the kind of music where you have a band or orchestra. We have an artist that we are bringing who does that kind of music, but we want to blend it with our own local music, the likes of Dr. Jose Chameleone, Cindy, Ykee Benda, and Janzi Band, to give it a local touch,” Edube said.

The highly anticipated event will be an exciting celebration of music, culture, and community, bringing together people from all over the country and beyond. The event will feature artists like Dr. Jose Chameleone, Cindy, and Ykee Benda singing alongside the Janzi band.

Revellers will pay UGX 20.000 for ordinary access, UGX 50.000 for VIP, UGX 1.9 million for a table of five people, and UGX 3 million for a table of 10 people.

Yake is a word that means—Yours is an assurance that the fun-loving Ugandans will enjoy their Ugandan music with their musicians taking them through the authentic taste and touch of a live band, good sound, and lighting system.
