Kampala Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrest of Sandra Teta Weasel’s girlfriend following a serious incident in which she allegedly ran over Ugandan musician Weasel, real name Douglas Mayanja, during a domestic dispute in Munyonyo earlier today, Thursday, August 7, 2025.

The incident occurred outside Shan’s Bar in the morning after a heated altercation between the couple escalated from a verbal exchange into violence.

According to  KMP deputy spokesperson,Luke Owoyesigire, the situation escalated from a verbal confrontation to violence when Teta reportedly got into a vehicle and deliberately struck Weasel before fleeing the scene.

Weasel sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, and was rushed to Nsambya Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

“Police at Kabalagala are holding Sandra Teta on allegations of unlawful wounding. She intentionally drove and knocked down Weasel using motor vehicle registration number UBH 148Y, which has since been impounded and is parked at Kabalagala Police Station,” Owoyesigire said.

The couple, who share two children, have had a long and often turbulent relationship that has repeatedly played out in the public eye.

In recent years, Teta was the subject of media reports alleging domestic abuse at the hands of Weasel, though she often denied the claims or downplayed them in public statements. Today’s incident marks a dramatic reversal in that narrative, with Teta now accused of inflicting serious harm.

As of Thursday afternoon, Weasel remains hospitalized. A source at Nsambya Hospital described his condition as serious but stable, with doctors preparing him for surgery to treat the fractures. Family members have asked for privacy as he undergoes treatment.

No official statement has yet been issued by Teta, her legal representatives, or her family. Police say efforts are being made to obtain her version of events as part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigations are ongoing as police piece together the events leading up to the altercation. Authorities have urged the public to refrain from speculation as they continue to gather evidence.
