She said the new facility signifies Uganda’s commitment to becoming a regional hub for Defence innovation and technology.

Minister Oleru noted that the facility not only supports national security efforts but also fosters the Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) policy, contributing to local industrial growth and skills development.

“With over 100 Ugandans trained in advanced armored vehicle technologies, this partnership is a key step in building local capacity for future security challenges,” She said.

Lt Gen James Mugira, National Enterprise Corporation’s (NEC) Managing Director, said the commissioning of the NEC-STREIT Armored Vehicle Showroom is a testament to Uganda’s growing self-reliance in Defence and industrial innovation.

The newly opened NEC-STREIT Armoured Vehicle Showroom offers clients from national security agencies to private institutions a centralized location to view and test high-performance armored vehicles. This facility bridges the gap between production and customer engagement, ensuring that Uganda’s security needs are met with advanced, locally manufactured solutions.

National Enterprise Corporation was established in 1989 by an Act of Parliament to serve as a commercial arm of the Ministry of Defence and Uganda Defence Forces and to produce goods and services that are beneficial to the Defence Forces and the general public.
