The Uganda Police Force is set to celebrate and award outstanding individuals and teams who have excelled in different sports events, both national and international.

This was revealed by the Uganda Police Force spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, during a weekly security press briefing at the police headquarters on December 12, 2024.

“Uganda Police Force is pleased to announce a celebratory event this weekend, August 17, 2024. We postponed the previous one, so this Saturday we will be honoring the accomplishments of sports teams and individual athletes. This event will show the remarkable achievements of our athletics in various national and international competitions at the just concluded 2024 summer Olympics in Paris, France and others,” stated Kituuma.

Kituuma said that different police officers received accolades from continental and international events throughout 2024 and that they deserve to be appreciated.

‘’You recall that ASP Joshua Cheptegei secured a good medal in the 10000 meters event while Peruth Chemutai scooped a silver medal in the 3000m steeplechase in the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana, on March 20, 2024, at the University of Ghana Stadium,’’ he added.

To commemorate these achievements, the event will commence with a procession from the city square to Makerere University Business Sports Ground, which will be followed by a series of existing football matches between the police director and the Uganda Press Football team, among others.
