The Uganda Police Force is deeply saddened to announce the passing of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Okoth Ogola, who served from 1981 to 1985. He passed away today, February 14, 2025, at Nakasero Hospital.
In a statement released on Friday, 14 February 2025, by the Uganda Police Force extended their condolences to the family of the late Ogola.
“The Uganda Police Force expresses its deepest sympathies to the family of our late IGP, and we are committed to honoring him in a manner befitting his legacy,” the statement read. Updates on funeral arrangements will be provided in due course.
Ogola’s leadership in the Uganda Police Force followed the tenure of W.B. Misoke, who served from January to May 1980.
In 2018, the late IGP was nominated for elections as the overall chief of the Morwa Sule clan, under the Tieng Adhola Cultural Institution.
“His contributions to both the Uganda Police Force and the community at large are immeasurable,” the statement read.
The police informs friends and family to standby for updates on funeral arrangements which will be provided in due course.
