After four days of high-level discussions, the 4th Uganda–UAE (United Arabs Emirates) Business Forum concluded at Munyonyo on Wednesday, 29th October, 2025, sending a strong message that Uganda is open for investment and ready to partner with the United Arab Emirates for shared economic growth.
Held under the theme “Unlocking Opportunities, Building Bridges through Trade and Investment,” the forum brought together senior government officials, private sector leaders, and investors from both countries to explore opportunities in agriculture, tourism, energy, technology, and infrastructure.
Hon. Matia Kasaija, Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, highlighted Uganda’s ongoing efforts to redefine investment in Africa through policy reforms and innovation.
“From trade to tourism, renewable energy to technology, Uganda is open for business. We thank our UAE partners for their confidence and collaboration. The future is bright,” Kasaija said.
The forum also focused on Uganda’s economic outlook.
Ramathan Ggoobi, Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury, noted that Uganda remains one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, fueled by stability and investment opportunities.
“Our economy is among the most resilient on the continent. Uganda offers some of the highest returns on investment, and we are ready to work with investors who share our vision,” Ggoobi emphasized.
Zaake Kibedi, Uganda’s Ambassador to the UAE, highlighted the rapid growth in bilateral trade, which has expanded from USD 600 million in 2018 to USD 2.85 billion in 2024. During the same period, UAE investment inflows into Uganda have tripled, signaling growing confidence in the country’s business environment.
The forum concluded with the signing of new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Ugandan and UAE companies in renewable energy, technological transfer, and real estate, cementing stronger commercial ties between the two nations.
As Uganda continues its push to become a regional investment hub, Kasaija described the partnership with the UAE as a model for how diplomacy and development can work hand in hand to drive prosperity.
