The countdown for Uganda’s highly anticipated 9th Edition of the Nyege Nyege Festival is on and will be returning to Jinja from November 14-17, 2024, which will offer an unforgettable experience for music, art, and culture enthusiasts.

The 2024 9th edition will run under the theme Afrogalactic Carnival, blending music with ancestral traditions, and will take place at a brand new site on 12 acres at the Source of the Nile, Njeru. The new venue is intended to provide festivalgoers with a more convenient experience, eliminating the need to walk long distances between stages.

According to Jessica Nakawesi, a businesswoman in Jinja city, the business community is excited to have the event because of the boost it brings to the city.

“We, as the business people, are excited and looking forward to Nyege Nyege. We always make incredible sales during this time because people start coming to Jinja weeks before the event. Already, our hotel has been fully booked, and this comes along with meals. Other people with shops that deal in clothes and shoes make sales because these party lovers at times run short of what to wear,” Nakawesi said.

While speaking to our reporter, the founder and owner of Latif Militarty Academy, Latif Kasumba Madoi, said that he looks forward to the upcoming festival and will participate in showcasing his talent to the revelers.

“I am looking forward to the upcoming Nyege Nyege festival, which I am sure will attract many people that love fashion and music. Latif designs will be there to showcase different amazing designs and models,” Madoi said.

The four-day festival will feature a diverse music lineup, with over 200 local and international artists performing on multiple stages, showcasing genres like Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, electronic, and traditional African music and showcasing Uganda’s rich cultural heritage through art, craft, and fashion.
