The MTN CEO in Uganda, Sylivia Mulinge, has advised aspiring business entrepreneurs to look out for different investment opportunities as Uganda remains one of the few countries in the region with vast investment opportunities.

Mulinge made these remarks while attending the PSFU Next Gen mentorship conference at the Kampala Serena Hotel on December 5, 2024, a conference meant to mentor young aspiring entrepreneurs.

“Uganda is a good country with good investment opportunities and a good country to invest in, and as long as you are disciplined, there are plenty of opportunities,” Mulinge said.

Mulinge also urged aspiring entrepreneurs to not look at the challenges in Uganda but rather look at different opportunities and see how they can be part of the solution.

“You have to look at the available opportunities and see what role you can play to make a better Uganda,” Mulinge added.

The DFCU CEO, Charles Mudiwa, urged young people to take advantage of the many available opportunities in the agriculture and produce industry to deal with the export gap in Uganda.

“Some of you young people are saying you want jobs in corporate companies. Why don’t you go and grow rice and export it to Kenya? We have plenty of opportunities in agriculture, and we can start from there and fix the big import gap in the country,” Mudiwa said.

Stephen Asiimwe, the Executive Director of PSFU, said that the mentorship conference is meant to open the minds of aspiring entrepreneurs so they can come up with different business ideas.

The Mentorship conference is a landmark event that brings together industry leaders, entrepreneurial icons, and aspiring entrepreneurs for transformative mentorship sessions. It is organized by the Private Sector Foundation Uganda in partnership with MTN, DFCU, Stanbic Bank, Uganda Breweries, Pepsi among others.
