Uganda has officially flagged off a contingent of 94 athletes and officials set to represent the country at the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024.
The event, scheduled to take place from October 23-31, 2024, promises to be a significant platform for young Ugandan athletes to showcase their talent in various sports disciplines and will return back into the country on November 1, 2024.
The flagged-off delegation includes representatives from Seroma High School, Rubaga Girls’ School, Kibuli SS, Mbogo College School, Mbogo Mixed SS, and Mbogo High School, and it is led by USSSA President Justus Mugisha.
The representatives are going to participate in swimming, basketball, tennis, badminton, athletics, and table tennis.

Hajji Twahil Kiteezaala, the 1st Vice President of USSSA, highlighted the significance of discipline and a winning mindset for the athletes.
“This is a different stage for you representing Uganda. It imposes different obligations, and the key is discipline. On top of that, you must have that winning mentality,” he said.
During the flag-off ceremony, Rev. Can. Dr. Duncans Mugumya, the Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports, encouraged the athletes to represent Uganda with pride and commitment.
“You are traveling to Bahrain as Team Uganda, not as individuals. Therefore, make sure you represent us to your very best,” he said.
The team is slated to travel officially for Bahrain on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
