Seven new members have officially taken the oath of office to serve on the Uganda Airlines Board of Governors for the next three years. The ceremony was presided over by Hon. Fred Byamukama, State Minister for Transport, at a function held this afternoon.
The newly appointed board members on 22 August 2025 include Priscilla Mirembe Sseruka as Board Chairperson, Barbara Namugambe, Herbert Kamuntu, Samson Rwabwire, Constant Othieno Mayende, Abdul Karim Omoding, and Patrick Ocailap.
In her remarks, Board Chairperson Ms. Sseruka outlined the board’s strategic priorities. These include implementing a 10-year corporate strategy aligned with the National Development Plan IV, expanding the airline’s fleet and routes, reducing loss margins, and enhancing human resource capabilities.
Mr. Constant Othieno Mayende, a seasoned auditor, has been welcomed as the newest member of the board, bringing significant experience in financial oversight.
Hon. Byamukama emphasised the significance of Uganda Airlines as a symbol of national pride and progress.
“Uganda Airlines is very dear to H.E. KagutaMuseveni because he understood that establishing it would provide social and economic benefits by boosting tourism, trade, and economic growth,” he noted.
The current substantive board was first inaugurated on April 1, 2022, replacing an interim board appointed in 2019 to oversee the revival of Uganda Airlines. The previous board’s term, also chaired by Ms. Sseruka, concluded on March 31, 2025.
