Uganda Airlines has introduced a two-weekly flight to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, together with a new air route.

The new service will operate twice weekly, Thursday and Sunday, connecting Entebbe International Airport to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

During the launch of the flight route on September 12, 2024, at
Entebbe International Airport, Shakila Rahim Lamar, the Uganda Airlines
spokesperson stated that the route will open Uganda to readily available
opportunities, and markets for their goods.

‘’This marks a significant step in strengthening ties between Uganda and Nigeria, facilitating easier travel for business, tourism, and other purposes,” Rahim Lamar said.

Additionally, the airline plans to introduce two more flights to Lusaka and Harare, which will take place on September 25, 2024, with both routes operating four times weekly.

In an interview last week, Jenifer Bamuturaki, the Chief Executive Officer of the airline, expressed her pride in Uganda’s contribution and said, “We are not just providing connectivity but also expanding opportunities for business, investment, and leisure travel.”

“The increased number of flights and new destinations demonstrate commitment to improve air travel options for its passengers while contributing to the region’s economic development,’’ Bamuturaki added.

Additionally, Ms. Bamuturaki said that the route network is expected to cover 20 destinations by July 2025.

This comes at a time when the route network has already covered 13 routes, bringing the total to 14, with another two routes on the way, bringing the total to 16.
