The Government of Uganda under the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has released the final statistical data report of first ever digital National Population and Housing Census.
In an official UBOS statement dated December 31, 2024, made public the recently conducted May 2024 Population Census data to Ugandans.
The Statistics body revealed that the data can now be accessed on the UBOS website (www.ubos.org).
According to the preliminary results, Uganda remains a youthful nation, with over half its population (50.5 percent) children aged 17 and under.
The youth demographic (18 – 30 years) constitutes 22.7 percent of the total population, reflecting the country’s demographic dividend and the need for targeted youth-centric policies.

UBOS Executive Director Chris Mukiza emphasized the importance of the census in national development.
“This report assures stakeholders of high-quality official statistics for informed planning, decision-making, and public debate,” he said in a statement.

Unlike the previous census exercises over the past years which would take at least two years to get final results, the 2024 Census has taken only four months.
The statistics body announced plans to release additional monographs within six months from the official release date.
“Monographs in various volumes providing more statistical information from the Census will be published within six months starting with Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index as well as sub-county and parish profiles,” the statement read in part.
The released data plays a crucial role in directing a comprehensive analysis that will inform evidence-based policymaking and development planning, aiming to address the needs of all Ugandans and propel the country toward sustainable and inclusive development.
