National Unity Platform (NUP) party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has called on residents of Luwero District to turn their overwhelming support for him into an electoral victory in the January 2026 polls.
Speaking at his first rally in Zirobwe, Bamunanika County on Tuesday, 2nd December, 2025, Kyagulanyi urged the people of Luwero historically a key political battleground to turn out in large numbers, vote decisively and ensure that their support translates into a clear electoral outcome.
“Let us turn this support into victory. We can only achieve this if everyone plays their part. Reach out to your neighbors, mobilize, and carry the message of change. Each of us must become Kyagulanyi in this struggle,” Kyagulanyi said.
The NUP party President told his supporters that since his campaign trail entered Buganda and Busoga regions, his team has faced escalating violence aimed at discouraging crowds from attending his rallies.
“Ever since we started campaigning in Buganda, they have been killing people, firing tear gas, and violently disrupting our meetings,” Kyagulanyi stated.
“In other regions we faced delays caused by roadblocks, but here the tactics are aimed at silencing us through intimidation, including the arrest of my entire team. Even so, this is the time to remain resilient and continue pressing on,” he added.
The NUP leader also expressed doubts about the fairness of the upcoming elections but urged supporters not to be discouraged. Instead, he appealed for massive voter turnout and vigilance on polling day.
“We do not expect the EC Chairperson Byabakama to announce us winners even if we get 99% of the votes. But the power belongs to you. Stand up and demand for your votes and if that moment comes, do not use stones or violence just simply carry your flags, the NUP party President noted.
Kyagulanyi is set to continue his campaigns in various parts of Luwero District before heading to Northern Uganda, where he is expected to address supporters in Amolatar, Dokolo, Omoro, Oyam, Nwoya, Amuru, Adjumani, and Gulu City.
