The former Uganda Cranes Midfielder, Tonny Wawejje has been appointed the new Assistant Coach of Kampala Queens alias Queens of Soccer, the women football club owned by FUFA President, Moses Magogo.

“We are pleased to announce Tonny Mawejje as our new assistant coach for the next one year,” Kampala Queens confirmed on twitter.

Mawejje is currently the acting coach of the team since Hamza Lutalo is away and no longer the head coach.

However, during Lutalo’s term, the team won the FUFA women super league with the club last season.

Mawejje ended his playing career last year (2022) and is now fresh and ready to take on his first coaching role.

The Kampala Queens Football Club, in its electrifying mode conveyed appreciations to the outgone coach for the numerous victories he brought to the team, citing the first ever won league title for the club that led Queens of Soccer to CAF Women’s Champions zonal qualifiers which will be played later this year.

“Thank you for your memories Coach Hamza Lutalo. 2021-2022 season finished 2nd in the FUFA women soccer league. 2022-23 season won the first ever league title for the club and lead the Queens of soccer to CAF women’s champions’ zonal qualifiers Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) region,” Kampala Queens revealed.

According to the new Assistant Coach Mawejje, the Queens of Soccer will represent Uganda in the forthcoming CAF Women Champions’ zonal Qualifiers CECAFA region that are expected to take place between June-August 2023.

According to the organisers, the regional champions win will be awarded the sole ticket to play at CAF women’s champions’ league final tournament.
