Three Young Girls Burn to Death in Entebbe House Fire

Police in Entebbe are investigating a tragic fire that claimed the lives of three young girls in Mpala Cell, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District, in the early hours of Friday morning.

The fire broke out around 1:00 a.m. and was reported to police by the local LC1 chairperson.

Earlier reports show that the children were left unattended by their mother, Julie Nalubwama, while their father, Lenon Kavuma, was away in Jinja for work.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed that the deceased were Namiru Ellah, 12; Amani Namulema, 5; and Namujju Tamale, 3.

Owoyesigyire said that Fire and Rescue Services responded promptly and managed to extinguish the blaze. Two of the girls were found dead outside the burnt house, while the third was discovered inside, burnt beyond recognition.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to the City Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Police say investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
