Three Arrested over Murder of Two-Year-Old in Mityana

The place where Namuyomba’s remains were found is not where she was killed, indicating that she was just dumped there.

Police in Mityana have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a two-year-old girl at Kikuumambogo village in Ttamu division, Mityana municipality.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Sylvia Nanyanzi, Derrick Nasasira, and Nelson Tujimuwone, all residents of Kikuumambogo village.

The deceased has been identified as Sumayya Namuyomba, the daughter of a one Paul Bukenya, a resident of Kikuumambogo village.

According to Bukenya, the father of the deceased, his daughter went missing from their home on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, necessitating him to inform the police. However, on Wednesday night, July 3, 2024, her body was found stark-naked and cut up in a maize plantation, a few meters away from his home.

’’I had hope that my daughter was still alive somewhere, but I was so shocked to find her body naked, brutally cut up, and dumped near our home that I cannot even imagine the excruciating pain she went through,’’ Bukenya said.

During an interview on July 4, 2024, SP Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said that three suspects were arrested to help with the police investigation.

SP Kawala added that according to their preliminary investigation, the place where Namuyomba’s remains were found is not where she was killed, indicating that she was just dumped there.

’’We found Namuyomba’s body stark naked and cut up about 500 meters from her parents’ house in a maize garden; however, the culprits who did this will be brought to justice soon,’’ Kawala stated.

Lukyamuzi Bazzeketta Kulabirawo, the mayor of Ttamu division, further urged the locals to provide any necessary information on Namuyomba’s murder to ease the police’s work.
