One of Uganda’s most successful and oldest stage drama groups, ‘The Ebonies,’ is celebrating their legacy and the future of theatre in a show, dubbed “The Ebonies at 47,” on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The lovers of the amazing and mind-blowing actors and actresses will part with Ug shs. 150,000 for ordinary, 200,000 for silver, 3 million for gold, and 5 million for platinum entrances at the show that will open at 05:00 PM.
Uganda’s trailblazing theatrical ensemble is known for plays like Bibaawo, That’s Life Mwattu, Urban Life, OMG, and many more.
The Ebonies filled their fans with anticipation as they announced that one of the oldest and main actresses of the group, popularly known as ‘Nakawunde’ (real name Harriet Nalubwama), had arrived in the country on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
“’The wait is over! Nana Kwame jets into the country this afternoon, bringing her iconic charm to The Ebonies at 47! The stage is set, and the excitement is real,” the ebonies said on X.
Kakuuto County Member of Parliament and singer Geoffrey Lutaaya called upon Ugandans to go to the Serene Hotel and support The Ebonies in big numbers.
“Ugandans, on 20th December, we should all be at Serena Hotel to support The Ebonies as they celebrate 47 years. The Ebonies, thank you, Katende, Dr Bbosa, and the entire team, thank you for promoting Uganda’s art and theatre,” Lutaaya said.
The Ebonies is one of Uganda’s most successful and oldest stage drama groups, which started in 1977 with over three decades of entertaining Ugandans and the rest of the world.
Apart from their time-tested TV series such as That’s Life Mwattu, Bibaawo; These Things Happen, Kyekyo, Life Kyeki, and more recently, OMG. The Ebonies have, over the last 35 years, composed some of the most successful songs in the history of Ugandan music. Songs like Twalina Omukwano negufa” and Munyambe Ntukeyo – are all original Ebonies’ compositions.
